Ionad na Faiche Móire/ Eyre Square Centre, were absolutely delighted to be named as the overall winner of Galway’s bilingual business award – Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh 2017 on Monday Night in the Salthill Hotel.
The Irish language is a huge part of our culture and history and it is so important to us as one of the largest public buildings in Galway City Centre with footfall of over 220,000 visitors per week to support the language especially after Galway City received the bilingual status and winning the European Capital of Culture 2020.
We are also so proud of our tenants who have embraced the Irish language to date in their business by incorporating Irish into their signage.
We could not have won this award without the support from Gaillimhe Le Gaeilge. They have been instrumental in bringing the Irish language alive in Eyre Square Shopping Centre. The team including Brid, Gearoídin and Mícheál have been fantastic to deal with. Winning this award is proof that you do not have to be fluent in Irish, all you need is a passion for the language and the support of Gaillimhe Le Gaeilge.
