Garbage to Gorgeous Winners Announced

Overall Winner: Deirdre Mc Kenna, Laura Baverstock, Louise Cleary, Kevin Roddy (Group Entry) – All from Galway City.

Details of Winner’s Outfit: This fantastic dress comprises of a top section which is made up from Chicken wire, covered in plaster paris which has been painted white, The skirt is made from old capping from a kayak as the main body of the skirt. The feathers are from old cans and the bustle at the back from old chicken wire and covered with layers and layers of newspapers.

Details of Outfit: This colourful outfit comprises of a skirt made from Old netting material and bubble wrap and the top is made up from old petits
filous yoghurt lids and bubble wrap.

Third Prize: Bohermore Youth Development Project Entry

Details of Outfit: ‘Down to Earth’, This dress is shaped from chicken wire, with paper mache which was made from old newspapers and posters from a classroom – the bottom piece of this outfit is made up from old billboard posters and ribbon.

Katherine Murphy - Handbag from plastic bin bags which were heated and pressed with the iron and then entwined together for effect – the inner part of the bag is made up of old ferrero rocher sweet wrappers and the handle is made from wire and old winecorks.

Akasha Project - Barbera Vulso & Massimo Deidda - This is a very unique 5 piece wedding dress which comprises of a corset top which is made from brown paper and trimmed with paper doilies which is fastened with old string, the skirts are made up from layers of net curtain, old shower loufahs, rubber gloves, and bubble wrap.
