Big Air in the Square – Galway

1 Jun 2011

More popular than ever, National Bike Week in Ireland runs from June 18th to 26th this year, and Galway is kicking off the festivities with an extreme biking demonstration in the Eyre Square shopping Centre on Sunday June 19th.

Some of the best Irish and international riders from the mountain bike and BMX worlds will thrill spectators as they descend through the six floors of Eyre Square shopping centre taking in stairwells, ramps, jumps, and wall rides, in a showcase of tricks and stunts.

Organised by Elevate Promotions and Moycullen Bike Works, and fuelled by Monster Energy, the show will run from 10AM to noon with music and big screens in Eyre Square to ensure that everyone gets to see all the action. It promises to be a full weekend of biking fun, with Saturday 18th seeing the ever popular RampRage demonstrating the best of BMX tricks in Eyre Square, as riders defy gravity with tailwhips, 360s, backflips flairs.

In addition to the showcase events, experienced bikers inspired by the talent on display will have an opportunity to try out new tricks, with the benefit of a soft landing, as Elevate Promotions bring the giant airbag to the centre of Galway for the weekend. Anyone who has given it a go knows just how addictive all that adrenaline can be.
