Eyre Square Centre 20th Birthday Celebrations Supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ireland
7 May 2011
Eyre Square Centre is celebrating its 20th birthday on the 28th and 29th of May and we are delighted that they have chosen to support the Big Brother Big Sister (BBBS)youth mentoring charity. Shoppers will be invited to buy a BBBS wristband in the coming weeks and enter into a draw, on the 29th May, to win over €1000 in prizes from the Eyre Square Centre.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ireland is an internationally renowned youth mentoring programme that matches a young person, who will benefit from extra support, with a caring adult volunteer. The impact of this relationship on the participants can be life changing. Big Brother Big Sister Project Officer in Galway, Ciara said;We have seen that matching young people with a caring adult volunteer is a powerful intervention that gives each participant the opportunity to reach their full potential in life. The Big Brother Big Sister programme currently operates in Galway city and county, supporting over 300 young people in school and community settings. To ensure we can continue to assist young people facing adversity we need your support and we thank The Eyre Square Centre for the opportunity to support our fundraising efforts and reduce our waiting lists of young people. From Saturday 14th of May, we are asking for the support of the public by visiting the BBBS Stand (upstairs in the Centre beside Carphone Warehouse) and buying a BBBS charity wristband for €2. Shoppers will be asked to complete a form to enter the draw to win over €1000 in prizes. As well as raising much needed funds for our programme, we want people to gain a greater awareness and understanding about the work which is undertaken by BBBS.
