Eyre Square hosts fashion show extravaganza!

24 May 2008

Gorgeous TG4 presenter on hand to lend fashion eye!

“Garbage to Gorgeous”, the quirky recycling awareness programme has been running at Eyre Square Shopping Centre as part of Recycling Awareness Month, with the aim of increasing awareness and educating further on the importance of being green as well as encouraging people to think creatively about waste consumption, recycling and the environment.

The challenge - to create a unique fashion item or accessory using only recycled goods! The competition received a massive response from students and young people in the Galway area, with entries ranging from dresses, tops and handbags made from plastic can holders, beer mats, bottle caps, bubble wrap and sweet wrappers to name but a few! The prize - €1,000 shopping spree for 1st place, €500 shopping spree for 2nd place and €200 shopping spree for third place – so competition has been fierce!

Judgement day arrives this Saturday, 24th May. TG4’s gorgeous Blathnaid Ni Dhonnachadha, presenter of Paisean Faisean will judge the event which will consist of two fashion shows at Centre Stage in Eyre Square Shopping Centre at 1.30pm and 2.30pm. The outfits will be modelled by Catwalk Modelling Agency and the overall winner and runner up winners will be announced after the 2.30pm show – so don’t miss it!
